Best Trees To Plant

We have put together a list of a few of the best trees to plant, whether you wish to plant it in your yard, at your work office, or maybe at your cabin or vacation home. All you will have left to do is choose which one works best for you!

• Red Maple: The state tree of Rhode Island grows in just about any weather condition. It grows into a medium or large tree of about 40’ to 70’ feet.

• River Birch: Great in wet zones, the tree is heat-tolerant and can survive mild droughts. The tree cannot handle shade, however. The River Birch can grow between 40’ and 70’ tall.

• Sycamore: Rot and damage prone, the tree is still an excellent tree to plant and also one of the easiest. The tree can grow as tall as 75’ to 100’. The tree is tolerant and can grow under nearly any condition, but creek banks are the best choice. 

• Flowering Dogwood: The state tree of Virginia and Missouri can be a little more difficult to plant and maintain. If grown in the open sun, the tree is wider and less sleek. If planted under a canopy of larger trees, it would be fast-growing, sleek, and slim.

• Red and White Oak: The state tree of Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, and New Jersey is the most popular tree in the United States.

• Yellow Poplar: The state tree of Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky is very tolerant to disease and insects and can grow as tall as 70 to 90’.

• American Elm: The state tree of Massachusetts and North Dakota is known for dying of the Dutch elm disease (DED). However, it can grow between 60’ and 80’ tall.

• Redbud: Oklahoma’s small state tree grows to be about 20’ to 30’ tall. It looks its best in the spring.

• Conifers: The White Pine, Loblolly Pine, and the Ponderosa Pine are conifers. The White Pine is the state tree of Michigan and Maine is usually referred to as a “yard tree”. Arkansas’ state tree, The Loblolly Pine, is the most adaptable and common pine in the Southern United States. The Ponderosa Pine is the state tree of Montana and popularly distributed in the Western United States. 

• American Holly: The state tree of Delaware is popular in the deep woods. The slow-growing tree usually reaches between 40’ to 50’ tall. The tree does not do well in the winter sun or in drying winds.
